Betty Lois Livingston

Betty was born, September 12, 1932, in Houston, Texas to Mearland and Sadie Jenkins. Betty passed away at 8:15 am on October 22, 2020.

As a child Betty moved from Dickinson, Texas with her parents to Los Angeles California in 1942 where she later graduated from David Starr Jordan High School. After high school, Betty married James (“Jimmy”) Honest and later gave birth to a son, James Curtis Honest. James Curtis is her only child. Betty later successively completed a LVN nursing program at View Park Community Hospital and received her state nursing license in 1965.

She worked several years as LVN at Kaiser Permanente Hospital in Los Angeles and Fontana California. After leaving Kaiser Hospital she started a business as a fulltime caregiver for special needs children.

Before her death, Betty was living in in an assisted living, group home, for senior adults located in Apple Valley California. Betty accepted Christ at an early age. She often spoke of her love for the Lord, and would witness to her neighbors and friends.

Betty leaves behind her son, James Honest, her brother, Dwight Jenkins, her sister-in-law, Zadie Jenkins. Betty is proceeded in death by her parents Mearland and Sadie Jenkins, and one sister, Rosie Bryant. She also leaves behind several grandchildren, great grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be given to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
