Brenda Joyce Shannon

Brenda was born in Texas to Ema Jean Shannon and James Henry Shannon. Brenda had three brothers, Billy, Lewis and Milton Shannon. All of them are Texas natives.

Brenda was baptized at an early age and attended church in Texas. Brenda attended elementary and junior high on Fort Worth, TX also graduated from Trimble Tech High School. She married the love of her life Bennie Joe James Sr. of Texas. They moved to California where she continued her education attending college for Cosmetology and Nursing in which she started her career in Nursing. Soon after, Brenda and Bennie had their only child, Vincent Lamont James Sr. of Los Angeles, California, Brenda had four bonus children that she loved deeply: Janet, Yvette & Yavon James and Beenie James Jr. who preceded her in death.

Brenda had a smile like no other "It Will Light Up Any Room" and she knew it. Brenda loved fashion and beauty and getting all dolled up. But more than anything, she loved the Lord! Her relationship with the Lord was her biggest conversation. No matter what the situation was her only solution was "Give It To God". Trust in Him. Brenda became a grandmother in 2003 and that's where she gained her crown for being the best Ham and Cake Baker ever. Vincent Sr. and his kids will surely miss her cooking, her laughter, her hugs, and kisses.

She leaves to mourn her death her son Vincent James Sr. and daughter in law Marcela James of CA; four grandsons Vincent Jr., Ve'Shon, Devorion and Ceejay; a grandaughter Princess; two brothers Lewis and Milton; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Brenda was preceded in death by her mother Ema Jean and father James Shannon, brother Billy Shannon, Husband Bennie James Sr., and her best friend that she called her sister Terry of Los Angeles, CA.

Brenda's belief is... To be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord.
