The Blessed Life of Carmen Denise Jones
Carmen Denise Jones was born November 12, 1961 in Baton Rouge Louisiana to Verestine Beatrice Jones and Otis Leroy Washington. Carmen was the first born of 10 children. She came to California at the age of three years old. She attended Vermont Elementary School, Monroe Junior High School, Morningside High, and Hawthorne High School. Carmen was a wonderful daughter, sister, mother, auntie and grandmother.
The soul to Carmen's heart was food. She loved cooking and baking and would always enjoy having her Sunday dinners. Carmen found Christ at an early age. Her heart and soul was unstoppable, undeniably beautiful, and to know her was to love her. She always had unconditional love, her doors were always welcoming to others no matter what. If you didn't have a place to lay your head at night, if you needed clothing, without a doubt, she had you. When Carmen saw sadness she knew how to cheer you up. Carmen would take on a new challenge or overcome an old one. Even if it was a struggle, no fears, she knew how to handle it in more ways than one. She was very protective of her loved ones and could be a monster at times, but that's when you needed the beast to come out the most. In spite of this, she still had a heart of gold. Her love was like a circle with no beginning and no ending. She encouraged you to sparkle even when your light was dim. She was always there rain or shine. Carmen would keep you safe and never give up on you.
On July 17th, 2022 the Lord spoke to His child and said "Carmen, well done, come on home my daughter". As Carmen lay to rest for a brief moment, her transition into eternity began, ending in the arms of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ.
Carmen leaves to cherish her memories with her mother, Verestine Jones. Companion, Clarence Bookman. Nine children, Donte, Carl, Dwayne, Latoya, Lawrence, Sierra, Cashawn, Toyron and Miracle. Seventeen grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. Five sisters, Debbie, Carla, Michelle, Lashawnae, and Chanera. Five brothers, Terry, Montoya, La Shawn, Jimmy, and Demetrious, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, aunties, cousins, and friends. She will be rejoining her father Otis Leroy Washington, daughter Shanae Brown, granddaughter Donesha Mc Farland, grandfather and grandmother Emerson and Mattie Walker, and Uncle Emerson Walker Jr.
My dear family and friends, please do not cry for me. Be happy, I'm still here. I love you all.
