Catherine Williams

Catherine Williams, affectionately known as Cathy to some and Cat to others, was called home on March 17, 2025.

Catherine was born on October 28, 1952, to Verneader and Theophlis Williams in Hampton Arkansas. In 1954 Catherine, along with her parents moved to Los Angeles, California where she attended South Park and 79th Street Elementary Schools, Edison Jr. High and Fremont High School.

At a young age she gave her life to Christ while attending 2nd Mount Carmel Baptist Church in Los Angeles, Ca. In 2022 Catherine joined Greater Phillips Chapel in Compton, Ca.

Cathy loved skating, music, cooking, shopping, decorating, fashion and fast cars (her favorite being a Porsche). Her love for family and friends was unconditional. If you were homeless, she would house you, hungry she would feed you, sick she would take care of you.

In 1970 Cathy graduated from cosmetology school following in her big sisters’ footsteps, it was then her legacy as an entrepreneur began.

In 1974 Cathy married Michael Williams and from that Union three children were born, Michael D’Andre Williams, Michelle D. Williams and Maurice Williams.

Being a mother and a grandmother was Cathy’s life. She helped raise so many others in need of a maternal figure she became mom to them. To her family she was the matriarch. She shared all her skills teaching her family to cook, clean, decorate and most importantly to just always be family.

Cathy was preceded in death by her son Michael Williams, her mother Verneader Williams, father Theophlis Williams, Brother Theotis Williams, Sister Gerry Nell Williams. She leaves to cherish her Memories her Daughter Michelle Rivers (Cliff) her son Maurice Williams, four granddaughters Malayah, Destiny (Chris), Dominique, and Lilani, Michael Williams III, Darnell (Simone), London and Malik., Six sisters Marjorie Robinson, Joann Hurst(Edward), Roxie Jordan, Faye Williams, Juanita Williams, Sandra Walker, and one brother Bobby Williams, and a host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
