Dana Randall Whitlock, 64, of Apple Valley, California died on 4th June 2022 at St. Mary’s Hospital, Apple Valley. She passed after a period of declining health.
Dana was born on 22nd December 1957 at Salt Lake City, Utah, the daughter of Merrill Dan Randall and Cleo Evelyn DeFond.
She attended elementary and secondary school in Cupertino, California graduating from Monte Vista High School in 1976. She attended Mt. Diablo Junior College before transferring to Brigham Young University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Family Financial Planning in 1983.
Dana married Willis Lamar Whitlock on 11th December 1980 at the Manti Temple in Utah. She is the mother of Andrew Lamar Whitlock, Elisabeth Carol Clay, Matthew Alexander Whitlock, and Emily Marie Dean.
After college she worked as a teller at Campus Credit Union in Provo, Utah. In Apple Valley she worked various marketing positions for NewsAmerica, ran a successful eBay business and was co-owner of LulaRoe by Mary and Dana.
Dana and Willis lived in Ramah, New Mexico for two years before settling in Apple Valley, California in 1985.
She enjoyed sewing and embroidery, buying and selling Disney collectibles and teaching and supporting the lives of her children.
She served in many callings in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints while living in Apple Valley including Relief Society President and Primary President, each for many numbers of years. She also served as a counselor and teacher in those organizations.
One of the greatest joys in her life was being “Nana” to 3 Whitlock and 5 Dean grandchildren, an honor she enjoyed for nearly 10 years.
Dana is survived by her husband Willis; her children Andrew (Mary), Elisabeth, Matthew, Emily (Ryan); her mother Evelyn Engelbrecht; her brothers Scott Randall (Kimberly), Mike Randall (Jill); her step siblings Scott Blackham (Kathryn), Nancy Butler, Esther Russell (Don); and eight grandchildren.
Predeceased by her father, Dan (2002) and stepmother Esther (2018).
