RIALTO

Herman Augustus "Popz" Record Knight, was born May 23, 1934, in Almirante, Bocas del Toro. He was the son of Mr. Daniel Alexandar Record and Mrs. Evelyn ‘Mum’ Knight Record. Mr. Record was married for 59 years to his wonderful bride Edna “Ruby” Maude Ford Record who received her heavenly wings on January 8, 2019.

Herman lived a life filled with dedication, commitment, and love for his family and loved ones. He carried the values instilled by his parents and was a guiding light to all who knew him. Those who had the honor of knowing Mr. Record, remember his quiet strength, common sense wisdom, and genuine honesty.

“Popz” loved to play baseball and played the position of catcher for many years as a young man. He was a tenacious player and earned the nickname “slingshot!”  In October of 2023, Popz was able to visit Almirante and connected with some of his old baseball buddies. It was such a blessing to see him smile, laugh, and reminisce about the good old days! He spent time with his brother Lloyd and daughter Hermelinda who prepared all his favorite Panamanian dishes. He literally ate himself to sleep!

As we say goodbye, we also celebrate his life, remembering the many lives he touched with his generosity and compassion. He leaves behind a legacy of love and countless cherished memories. His presence will be dearly missed, but his love will continue to live in our hearts.

Herman is preceded by four siblings: Zona Record, Stanley Record, Olga Record, and Reginald Record. He is survived by his sister Florence Record (95), and brother Lloyd Record (84), and his children: Roberto Record, Hermelinda Record Vaz (Ricardo Vaz), Herman ‘Ricky’ Record (Rene Record), Jacquelyn Wirkus (Jerry Crowther), Rogelio Record (Kathia Moreno), and 9 grandkids, 7 great grandkids, and a host of many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.
