Patrick Ricardo Martinez

Rick was born in Los Angeles on November 26, 1959 to Santos and Matilda Martinez.  He is preceded in death by his parents Santos and Matilda Martinez; and is survived by siblings, Hortencia (Tangie) Torres; William (Squinkie) Martinez; Debra (Debi) Martinez; William (Uncle Willie) Garnica; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

He leaves behind many wonderful, devoted friends that he made at Faith Life Church.  He loved and respected Pastor Jim, as well as Pastor Roland and Pastor Vicky Arreola; and close friends Tom and Sylvia; Jesse; Miner, and his many other friends in “Club 55”.  Rick loved being a member of Faith Life Church.

He was raised his entire life in Ontario, California where he attended Mission and Mariposa Elementary Schools, De Anza Junior High School, and Ontario High School.

Rick was a devoted Christian and looked forward to attending church every Sunday. Every week he seriously took his responsibility of managing the parking of the cars, and proudly wore his bright orange security vest and hat.  He was always willing to help wherever he was needed.

Rick was a champion recycler and without fail would leave his house every day at 7a.m., rain or shine to go for his walk and pick up aluminum cans and other recyclable items.  He would walk from 7 a.m. to 10 a.m., and sometimes would walk for hours at a time in the afternoon.  He was an avid fan of the WWE, and his favorite wrestler was The Undertaker.  He also loved Elvis Presley and especially the rock band KISS. He was able to attend their farewell concert at Anaheim Pond in 2019.

Rick truly was a walking miracle by surviving and being able to walk after sustaining a life-threatening spinal cord injury and was hospitalized for months at the age of 5.  His parents were told that he might never walk again, but through a miracle of God, and the medical staff at Pomona Valley Hospital, he regained all that he had lost and was able to enjoy his life until God called him home on Saturday evening, 22nd of April 2023 at 5:51 p.m.

The Martinez Family would like to give special thanks to Pastor Jim, Pastor Roland  and Pastor Vicky, for the love and kindness they showed to our Beloved Brother, Rick.

Rick was a very special person and will be forever loved and missed by all who knew him.

There will be a memorial service to celebrate his life on Friday, May 26th, at 11 a.m. at Faith Life Church, located at 3778 S. Milliken Ave. Suite B, Eastvale, Ca. 91752.
