WALNUT

Stephen Young Burrows Sr. was born on April 21, 1951, at Harlem Hospital in New York, New York to the parents of Helen Young and Stanley Burrows. Stephen was the second born of two children. Stephen received Christ at an early age at Salem Methodist Church under Pastor Charles Young Trigg. He later attended St. Columbkille Catholic Church alongside his late wife Willa. Stephen received his education at George Westinghouse High School in Brooklyn, New York. As a young person he loved technology and working with computers. After completion of high school, Stephen enlisted in the United States Air Force where he served as an Airman from 1969‐1970. He was honorably discharged after serving in the Vietnam War as a Military Policemen within the K‐9 unit. After the military, Stephen was employed with MCI holding positions as a Computer Engineer and Telecommunications Manager. He remained with the company for over 40 years. During his free time, he could be found assisting family and friends with their computer needs. Later on, Stephen returned to school to continue his education majoring in Business Administration and Project Management at the University of Phoenix. As a young man Stephen courted and married his first wife Arlene. To this union, Stephen Young Burrows, Jr. was born. A new chapter began in Stephen's life in 1978 when he met Willa Maria Farrow at a local social club in Los Angeles. The two became friends and were married on August 12, 1982. This union was blessed with 3 beautiful children; Sterling Alister Burrows, Stanton William Burrows, and Shevion Janae Burrows, along with two bonus children Audra Charisse Farrow and Willie James Farrow Ill. They were lovingly married for 39 years. Stephen was generous, dependable, and had a sarcastic sense of humor. He was a fairly quiet and private person but did enjoy the company of close friends and family. He was known as a voice of wisdom with his most common pieces of advice being... "Pay yourself first... and God doesn't give you anything you can't handle. Stephen had extravagant taste, only preferring the best of the best. Whether it be a new car, top of the line equipment, the most advanced software, or the latest gadgets, Stephen had to have it. He thoroughly enjoyed online gaming and investing, working on DIY home‐projects, watching football, collecting cybersecurity books, listening to jazz music, traveling, and attending summer concerts with his wife. Stephen was a giving and involved father and grandfather, always supporting his children and grandchildren's activities. He enjoyed coaching their sports games, attending father‐daughter dances and music performances, and teaching them the importance of education. He was truly dedicated to his family and took pride in helping those he loved. On January 24, 2023, Stephen Young Burrows Sr. transitioned into his new life in his home in Walnut, California.
