Virginia Darlene Rice

Virginia Darlene Rice - a loving mother, a sweet grandmother, and great grandmother, had passed away on October 19, 2023, in Riverside, California at the age of 84 years old as she was surrounded by her family.

On May 17, 1939, Virginia Darlene Rice was born in Indianapolis, Indiana to her parents Glen and Velda Arvin. Virginia was the middle child among three daughters. As a child, the family moved to Florida where she completed her education at North Miami High School. She met and she married Bob Burk, and together they had four children. They decided to move to California for better opportunities to raise their family. In later years, she married her second husband Howard Rice. Together they had a daughter. Later in life, she moved back to Florida and worked as a Bridge Tender for the State of Florida for 12 years. She moved to Minnesota when she retired. Recently, she took the road trip to California to be with her family where she passed away.

She was preceded in death by her parents Glen and Velda Arvin; and her sisters Glendora Davis and Ann Lacquey. She is survived and lovingly remembered by her children Robert Burk, Timmy Burk, Jenny Kauffman, Cindy Burk and Rhonda West;  her grandchildren Heidi, Bobby, Tiffany, Brittany, Tonya, Jessica, Ashley, Kevin, Brian, and Michelle; her great grandchildren Ezekiel, Jocelyn, Sadie, Jada, Landon, Phoenix, Zahara, Desiree, Lilly-Ann, Payson, and Micheal Jr.

Everyone who knew Virginia knew how much she loved to go fishing, go to the casinos, play bingo and cards. She loved Christmas and fudge. Her favorite things to do were spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren. Her heart was full and overflowed onto all who knew her. We miss her smile, laughter, and her blue eyes but we were blessed to have her in our lives. She is in our hearts forever and we will see her again.
